High Pressure Blues II

No heli, no pow just making the most out the 2015 ski season. Still blessed to make turns everyday. Even when the snow is thin and temps in the 50′s its great to make telemark turns.

Sun Valley Mid-Winter Photo Challenge

Jon Mancuso Photography
The first Sun Valley Mid-Winter Photo Challenge went down a couple days ago and was a super fun event. 5 photographer/athlete teams had 12 hours to shoot and produce a 3 minute slideshow using only that day’s images. Thanks Photographer Jon Mancuso  for crushing it all day!  Enjoy a day in the life of ski bum!

Why I Ski Grand Targhee

Yes, Grand Targhee is my home away from home!  For the past 5 years I have made it point to head there for the storms.  Soft snow and and truly a soulful skiing experience! They are blessed with over 500 inches of dry powder each year.  Enjoy this slide show from the Ghee !

Galena Ski Report~Galena Peak

It’s true that I am excited for stand up paddleboarding and rock climbing season BUT the skiing is so great right now!  Yesterday, we had a great ski on Galena Peak.  Everything was sty-lee!  We started skinning about 20 yards from the highway and took it 2700 feet up Senate Creek. Then we threw skis on pack and booted the last 1000 feet along the ridgeline to the summit.  The conditions were perfect!  There was 3 inches of fresh on the top and below was perfect smooth corn all the way back to the van!  Good Times skiing with Steve “Angry” Thompson!

Ski ya later!  Next stop the City of Rocks for the kick off of the 2013 Mountain Niceness Tour!!!!

Idaho Ski Adventures~Pioneer Mountains

Jacqueline Peak 10,947ft. Pioneer Mountain,ID.

More good times in the mountians of Idaho!  When I got the email from Matt Leidecker that he had a full moon/bivy /peak/ corn ski  mission.  I knew I had to go!  For the last 8  years I have been lucky enough to go on adventures like these with Matt.  They are not standard tours.  They are unique and cool adventures in mountains with the guide book author.  Also along for the fun was friend Bozo Cardozo.  Bozo had just returned  from a month of guiding in Alaska and is always stoked to play in his backyard.

The mission was to hike in under the full moon and bivi(sleep).  Wake up early and ascend the mountain with crampons and ice ace.  Enjoy time on the summit with friends and ski some corn!  We succeeded!

Enjoy these great images from Matt Leidecker!  View all of Matt’s sweet photos in the full gallery!i=2481208292&k=89KpHTv
