Higher Ground

I have had the pleasure of working with the Higher Ground program in Sun Valley. Higher Ground  www.hgvets.org/ is a nationally recognized veteran rehabilitation program that combines sports, family and coping therapies to restore and rehabilitate men and women of the armed forces who have been served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The program is part of Sun Valley Adaptive Sports www.svasp.org/

Here is my edit from their latest river and fly fishing trip.  Enjoy!

Ohhh….hot springs!

We were stoked to go Paddle boarding today but it was getting darker and darker by the mile and than the rain came. What do you do when it starts raining right when you get to the lake?  Switch gears in the Westy and hit Plan B the hot springs!  Hot Springing is one of my favorite rainy day activity.  Funny thing is that the sun came out where were but was totally dark all around us.  We were in the center of the donut hole with nice weather.  I try to make it a point to soak at least once a week.  It just re-energizes your body and make you feel good!  Pure Mt. Niceness!

Good Ole Idaho

Great to take a break from the tour and be back home in Ketchum,Idaho.  As you can see there is trail access in every direction.  I left the Westy at home and went hiking at the Sun Valley Ski Area.  Here are some pics from  out of my back door.

Mt.Niceness~West-topia Tour….K2 Skis World Headquarters-Seattle,WA

Since I was in Seattle I had to visit my ski sponsor K2 at their World Headquarters.  The place was buzzing with stoke for the upcoming season.  It was great being around  people who love skiing with as much passion as I do.  It really shows in all the amazing new gear that is coming out!   I received the sweet tour from Ski Designer Ken Schiele and got see to see how the best skis in the world are made.

West-topia Tour….Hood Canal,WA

Hood Canal separates the Kitsap Peninsula and the Olympic Peninsula.

Hood Canal is a fjord forming the western lobe, and one of the four main basins, of Puget Sound in the state of Washington. Hood Canal is not a canal in the sense of being a man-made waterway—it is a natural waterway.

After surfing in the cold pacific is was nice to be in the heat.  Believe it or not the water in canal was the warmest in the Puget Sound.  We were based out of Dabob Bay.

West-topia Tour…..Oregon Coast

I love sport traveling.  I love VW van adventures.  Combine the two and you have the West-topia Tour.

Feeling a surf jones it was time to pack the Westy and head over to the Oregon coast for some waves.  I must say the Oregon coast is truly stunning with something beautiful around every corner.  At times I felt like I was back in Ireland with the foggy mornings and craggy coast. Later in the day we would travel through a Costa Rica esq rainforest  down to a lush beach and surf spot!  All in the same day.  Everyday on the tour seems to out-do it self as the most beautiful or the most fun.  I am blessed for this opportunity to see and play in our country’s great parks.  Enjoy these pics from Oswald State Park, Arch Cape and Indian Beach.
