World Telemark Day 2016

I am proud to be a freeheel skier.  I love the feeling I get when I drop into a telemark turn.  There is nothing like carving and surfing down the blank canvas.  Todays equipment has come along way from the my old leather days.  Enjoy the latest episode of Ida-pow4.

SUP Travel Destination~Gili Islands, Indonesia

We found Stand up paddleboard paradise on 3 small island in the Indian Ocean.  Crystal clear water in the 70′s, turtles, and $7 massages.

The Gili Islands are made up of  three small islands — Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air — just off the northwest coast of Lombok, Indonesia.

The islands are a popular destination for travellers from Bali and Lomok looking for a remote island experience. Each island has several small resorts, usually consisting of a collection of villas for tourists, a pool and restaurants. Automobiles and motorised traffic is prohibited on the islands by local ordinance, so the preferred method of transportation is by foot and bicycle or the horse-drawn carriage called a cidomo. Diving in and around the Gilis is world class.  The area boasts an abundance of marine life and attractive coral formations.  It also has the unofficial title of Turtle capital of the world.

We had some great SUP sessions daily.  Some days it was touring to different islands and others it was using the sup to get to different snorking spots.   The sup is the ultimate rig to get to snorkel spots and explore.  I’d tour my wife out to dive.  I’d paddle off and have fun on my water toy.

When your muscles are tired from paddling head to the beach to enjoy some ice cold Bintang beers.  After you are hydrated it is massage time!  This area is famous for massages and are set up along the beach.  You can enjoy a massage while hearing the waves break. This will set you back about $7-8 for an hour Balinese massage.  Get ready for some of the best massages ever.

High Pressure Blues II

No heli, no pow just making the most out the 2015 ski season. Still blessed to make turns everyday. Even when the snow is thin and temps in the 50′s its great to make telemark turns.
