Reggae in the Mountains is back Feb 1st

KETCHUM, ID—Save the date for Reggae in the Mountains. The greatest show on snow will present an all-ages winter concert in the Ketchum Town Square on Saturday, Feb. 1, featuring the nine-piece roots Bob Marley inspired band Sol Horizon from Sonoma County, Calif. and the nine-piece roots music inspired band Natural Roots from Salt Lake City.

“We’re looking forward to bringing Reggae in the Mountains to Ketchum this winter,” said event founder and organizer Danny Walton. “It’s important to preserve our ski culture, have cultural diversity and have events to attract a younger demographic to our community.”

Reggae in the Mountains, for the second year, is also a celebration for an incredible week of Nordic skiing, activities, education and fun at the 2014 Sun Valley Nordic Fest, Jan. 25-Feb. 2.

A concert pre-party will take place at Lefty’s Bar and Grill in Ketchum at 4 p.m. The concert will take place at 5 p.m. at Ketchum Town Square followed by an after party show at Whiskey Jacques’ in Ketchum, which will begin at 10 p.m. with Soul Medic, Jah Wave and Lions Den Unlimited Sounds.

“This is the only on-snow reggae event that happens in the country,” Walton said. “The original idea started six years ago to celebrate Bob Marley’s birthday, and we continue the tradition. These tributes happen in over a 120 countries around the world each February.”
