Well the Pacific NorthWET has lived up to its name. I skipped skiing Mt St. Helens as the rain continued to pour down. A quick stop in Portland and the Westy was rolling to Mt. Hood and the K2 house in Government Camp. The K2 house was very sty-lee I must admit. You know you are in the right place when ski bindings are the door handles! Athletes Anna Segal and Andy Mahre along with others have been hanging and training at Hood this summer. Todd Bracher is the the man keeping the stoke level at high and the house and skis rolling. Yes- its the full ski vibe in the summer and I feel right at home!
The Mt Niceness~West-topia ski objective was to climb and ski Mt. Hood with Andy Mahre. Andy has been coming here since he was 11 with his dad Steve. He mentioned that this year is one of the most filled in he has seen. It’s funny that you start the tour by taking the chair (Thanks Timberline for pass!). We even decided to take a warm-up run through the white out before starting our climb. The clouds cleared some as we had a real mellow and chill climb to the summit.

Big Thanks to Beyond Coastal for the great sun care and looking after this Irish kid when out in the sun. The sun is really intense on the glacier.
We didn’t stop in this section because of the stinky sulfer smell from the volcano.

The skies cleared up for some our descent. The run turned into a amazing 5000 foot smooth silky carvy corn run!

Next stop…..the Westy is heading south to float and fly fish on the Rogue River!
